Merel Jung is a post-doctoral researcher at the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS) and Tilburg University (department of Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence). She is a visiting researcher at the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group. Her current research focuses on deep learning for medical image analysis. Previously she has been a post-doctoral researcher at the chair of Interaction Design at the University of Twente researching user needs for exoskeleton technologies to support elderly people. In 2107 she obtained her PhD at the Human Media Interaction department at the University of Twente on the automatic recognition of human touch behavior for socially intelligent robots. Her background is in psychology, she received both her bachelor's degree (2010) and master's degree (2012, Cum laude) at the department of Cognitive Psychology and Ergonomics at the University of Twente.
